Martin McNee is drummer with British metal/hard rock band Fury UK, a band he joined in October 2007 shortly after the band signed with UK independent label Rocksector Records. His work with Fury UK during the past 3 years+ has taken him to high profile festivals such as Bloodstock Open Air, Hammerfest, Hellfire Festival, to UK tours with the likes of Y&T, Michael Schenker, Blaze Bayley & soon Saxon with a full UK tour confirmed for April 2011, plus appearances away from home territory in the likes of Switzerland, Belgium & Greece. When starting to play drums at age 14/15 his early influences were Lars Ulrich & Tre Cool but more apparent inspirations for his playing have subsequently been Bill Ward, Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Chad Smith & Ian Paice. It's this mix of background that makes him the drummer he is today. With his distinctive looks, replete with "ZZ-style" beard, Martin cuts a highly recognisable figure in the engine room of Fury UK, winning a legion of fans since joining the band. Fury UK has been handsomely reviewed in the music press for a number of years but here's a selection of the more recent examples.... Metal Hammer (review of Hammerfest 2010) "it's always good to discover a new favourite band at festivals and Fury UK seem destined to fit that bill for plenty of people. Their stirring old-school metal sidesteps retro cliche and goes for the jugular with lashings of blistering lead work and planet-sized tunes" Classic Rock (album review) "Increasingly lauded as a gloriously fiery live act, Fury UK are students of metal's old school, & yet there is a sizzling, life-affirming freshness in every second of A Way Of Life.... one of the most exciting British metal albums of recent times"
Powerplay
(album review) "Jaw droppingly good production.. loud, crisp &
beautifully balanced.. riffs & hooks galore.. the clean vocals come into
their own during the big choruses.. top notch musicianship.. more than a
hint of Megadeth" Midlands Rocks (album review) "own brand of hard hitting, classy & intelligent music. NWOBHM brought into the modern era. Vocally & musically Judas Priest spring to mind, such is the class exuded here. Like all the great bands Fury UK seem to have the ability to show their musical influences, yet meld them into their own unique vision" Finally a few words from a seasoned & respected pro.. Dave Meniketti of Y&T in a recent interview with Midlands Rocks…. " an exciting young bunch.. one of the best responses of any opening act that we’ve had in the UK for a long time.. they get out there & kick ass"
